Daily Living

Daily Living: What is the point?

Many people seek meaning for their lives and strive to live out that "meaning" each day. However, many people struggle with what it means to "live", to be "alive" and to have "purpose". SO let me just give you some "seeds" of thought, that you can plant into the "garden of your mind" so to speak. We as a people, all have similar likes, dislikes, and all have a general basic ability to maintain a lifestyle correct? Whether it be easy for your given situation or it be hard. But we all can agree that objectively we can maintain some type of structured life. Ok, so if that is true then maybe we can say that the "purpose" or the "point" to our daily lives, is to not just maintain our basic lifestyles, but to help establish an environment of living, where all people not just maintain their lives, but also participate in helping others develop their lives.
Can we honestly say that from a humanistic point of view that to "seek the greater good" is the "point" or "purpose" to our daily lives? I would say yes. We as human beings are not alone by virtue of the way things are. It takes two people to conceive us into being. It takes two people (or more) to raise us and form us into decent human beings. But also as we grow and shape our personhood, we are constantly around other people, in different places, and surrounded by many diverse things. Now, with that in mind, I would say that if you are looking for "purpose", "meaning", or a "point" to your life; then try during this week, month, or year, to really make it your lifestyle to "seek the greater good" for our global community.
Take this idea into prayer (if you are a person of prayer and faith. If not...give it a try!) and reflect on it. Let it digest into your soul and nourish your being.
Peace and love be yours today, tomorrow, and forever! Amen!
Jerry
